You will learn how to understand contract terms correctly:
  • Presentation of the worst, best and most likely arrangements for:
    • Contract duration
    • Work time
    • Holidays
    • Probationary period
    • Notice period
  • Explanations on remuneration including:
    • Social contributions
    • Tax payments
    • Calculation example of gross salary to net salary
    • Living costs
  • Procedure in the event of incapacity for work due to illness
  • Examples of wording in employment contracts on all topics discussed
This course provides basic knowledge about working conditions for employments in Germany. We start with an overview of all sources of law that affect an employment relationship. Afterwards, you will learn about the nine most important topics of an employment contract. For each topic, the minimum legal regulations, the expected conditions for an academic career starter and the maximum regulations in the industry are presented. In addition, typical formulations for the contract text are shown. Furthermore, the calculation of the gross salary to the net salary is explained. The course will help you to understand the employment contract and to decide whether the conditions offered are comparatively good or bad.
