1-Hour Live Workshop via Zoom
Writing a great shred solo is not just about playing fast. It is about creating tension, drama, melody, direction, and that epic “goosebumps” moment that makes a solo unforgettable.
In this 1-hour live Zoom workshop, Justin Hombach will show you how to build powerful shred solos from the ground up — combining musical storytelling, advanced technique, exotic sounds, and practical solo-writing strategies.
Justin’s main job is writing epic guitar solos — whether as a content creator, guitar teacher, or musician in bands such as Eternity’s End, Alkaloid, and Dawn of Victory. He also loves analyzing the solos of legends like John Petrucci, Jason Becker, Jeff Loomis, and Steve Vai — and in this workshop, he will show you how to use similar concepts in your own playing.
What You Will Learn
In this workshop, you will discover how to:
- Play around chord progressions and make your solos follow the harmony
- Use dynamics to create an epic, emotional solo arc
- Add exotic scales for more interesting and dramatic sounds
- Choose the right technique for the right musical moment
- Combine speed, melody, phrasing, and tension in a musical way
- Practice these ideas effectively on your own after the workshop
This workshop is perfect for guitarists who already know some scales and techniques, but struggle to turn them into a real solo that sounds exciting, musical, and complete.
Live Q&A + Solo Analysis
After the workshop, there will be a live Q&A session where participants can ask questions and even have their own solos analyzed. Justin will give practical feedback and improvement suggestions to help you make your solos stronger, more expressive, and more powerful.
Bonus
Every participant can submit one solo for analysis. Justin will review it and give feedback on how to improve the phrasing, structure, technique, note choices, and overall impact.
