Emotions in Motion – What could be the role of the superficial fascia in the genesis and management of the emotions linked to physical and sports activity?
Workshop duration: 9h-16h
Location: TUM CAMPUS

Presenters:
Anna Maria Vitali (CEO Fisicamente Formazione)
Caterina Fede, PhD (University of Padova)
Summary:
Recent studies on the Superficial Fascia suggest that it may be involved in complex functions, including the genesis and management of exteroception and emotions connected to interoception. This theoretical-practical workshop aims to highlight these aspects and relate them to movements, motor gesture, motor and sport activities, with particular attention to the prevention and recovery of traumatic events.
The workshop will be focused on the superficial fascia (SF). It has been demonstrated that the SF runs across the entire surface of the body, presenting differences based on the location and function of the area it covers. The innervation, vascularization and presence of specific cells confer to this tissue specific characteristics and functions, linking the external environment and the exteroception with the internal one, the interoception and proprioception.
This full-day workshop will be held in two sections, morning and afternoon, dedicated to the OUT-IN and IN-OUT pathways, respectively.
Morning Session (9 am – 12 pm): “out-in” pathways: The receptors and cells present in the SF and their interaction with the external environment will be analyzed, with a specific focus on the autonomic nervous system.
The theoretical presentation (9-10am) will be followed by practical application through exercises (10-12am).
Afternoon session (1 -4 pm): “IN-OUT pathways”: It will be examined how the stimuli collected in the internal environment conveyed by the deep fascia determine a response in motor activity and the possibility of SF interactions. The theoretical presentation (1-2pm) will be followed by practical application/exercises (2-4pm).
